I havent played video games for a while but in addition to the XBox what do I need to get for it so I can play in the league and how much is it?

50 dollars for a year subscription for online play. Thats about it. As long as you have a router.. if not you'll have to disconnect from the internet to plug it into you're modem.

once you pay the 50 which you can either buy a year pass from any EB if you don't have a credit card. Once thats done you'll need a select a gamer tag and whola!!

You guys are lucky you are playing the leagues for 360 instead of the PS3. If you were playing it for the PS3, there would be no point in playing the games, because I'd win... lol

i wish i could unfortunately i only have a 360 lol.... been playing madden for about 5 years now. im a kind of player that likes to get short yardage and rarely goes for the big play, usually works out for my favor when you play smart.

I was oringinally a QB CLUB guy but in 01 i swithced over to madden and been playing it eve saince then. so what is that7 years?? yea, but im gettin 360 soon hoepfully cus i wanna play peeps online and madden sounds sick for 360 this year. Also cus i hate playstation's controller layout and wii doesnt seem good for madden at all. too much work not enough fun lol.

What Im pissed about is they still have those cheesy commentators............... I really wish they would get the real guys back with John Madden and Al Micheals. Thats half of the problems, those commentators piss me off..... But Idk, the guys still run weird, like its not relistic movements at all. From all that I have seen I am getting mixed feelings.

The running style seem a lot tighter this time around. I'm to worried about that anymore and that was one of my biggest hangups, I hated it! but this game is looking really promising. Remember that this is an unpolished and unfinished game it's still being tweaked before launch. If all else fails I'll still get it for the old xbox but it looks a lot better now though for NG.

Remember you're not seeing everything. You're only seeing alittle running and passing. They haven't showed any real new features yet. Like mid air collisions or none of that stuff.

We'll see what happeneds this next month.

Yea all the in game videos I watched dont make me excited at all. It looks like another disapointment this year. They talk the talk, but arent walking it, because this game looks cheesy still....... Unless they make huge changes in 2 months, the game isnt going to be good. I wonder why with all the power that the NG systems have they cant make these guys look any better then they are. I really wish EA didnt have the rights to all NFL shit, because they need some friggen competition........

ugh talk about a pain in su culo. you had to dpad over to which of the 5 weapons you had, so your opponent knew who you were hot routing, then you had to chose which route you wanted.... time waster and no secrecy.

Nah I'm not sure you understood what I was saying. They haven't showed you nothing in those vids. In the last post by kobeskool they even do a comparison segment where they take a play from 07 then from 08. You can really tell the difference. I actually downloaded the demo for 07 just for kicks and I mean it's not really all that bad to honest.

The 08 version will be so much more advanced and tighter to play. The Madden community can be a fickle bunch.. Me included but honestly think 08 for NG will be pretty good. It would be the first football game for NG I've ever boughten.

A few weeks ago, we had a chance to play Electronic Arts’ Madden NFL 08, the first Xbox 360 entry in the series to feel like it actually earned that “next-gen” label that’s been tossed around the last few years. The most notable feature of the game is the fact that it runs at a buttery-smooth 60 frames per second, something that’s essential when it comes to creating a realistic sports title. The controls are incredibly responsive, too, another must-have in the world of sports gaming. We were definitely impressed by what we saw on that fine morning, so it wasn’t surprising how excited we were to spend some more quality time with the game at EA’s recent pre-E3 event in Los Angeles.

The first thing you’ll notice (literally) about Madden NFL 08 is the presentation, which allows you to keep your eye on the most prized trinket in sports: the Championship ring. As you play through the game, you’ll earn points through solid play. It’s similar to the Gamer Level system seen in last year’s game, but this time out you’ll actually have a visual representation of your prowess. When you start, the ring will be transparent, but you’ll gradually be able to bling it out by adding precious gems, platinum trim, and stuff like that. You’ll also be able to earn trophies by hitting certain milestones on the field, and you can even wager them against other players online.

Speaking of the on-field action, let’s focus on that for the rest of this preview. We played a few more quarters of Madden NFL 08 at the event, and came away with a better idea of how the finished product will feel. In a word, it feels great. The move from 30 frames per second to 60 really makes a huge difference, as the players feel much more responsive than their previous incarnations. Because of this, both the Hit and Highlight Sticks play an important part in the game, as you’ll be able to utilize them quickly and efficiently. Being able to juke a defender out of his Under Armor has never felt as easy (and satisfying) as it does here.

Even more impressive is the animation system, which allows for a much more fluid style of play. After years of seeing players do the same things over and over during play, we were amazed to see running backs realistically bouncing off tacklers, receivers dragging their feet to stay in bounds, and the all-important gang tackles. Best of all, you won’t get caught up in animations, something that comes in particularly handy when you catch the ball in the middle of the field. Last year, your player would be forced to go through the entire animation before being able to turn upfield, but now you can grab the ball and take off as soon as you touch down.

That’s not to say, however, that this isn’t the same Madden that we’ve known and loved for years. You’ll still be able to pull of the spin and hurdle moves that you’ve always relied on, as well as nasty stiff arms (seriously, I thought Lawrence Maroney was going to punch his hand through the helmet of any would-be tackler). While we can’t confirm anything, it also felt like you could do more on the defensive side of the ball. Both my opponent and I noticed that swim and shudder moves worked better than they did in the past, something that’s sure to be good news for all the wannabe 300-lb. defensive linemen out there.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to spend as much time as we wanted to with Madden NFL 08, as there were a lot more games to see at the event. Still, it appears that the game’s development is going very smoothly, as all that’s really left to do is debugging and applying that all-important final coat of polish. We’ll be bringing you a lot more on the game in the coming weeks, from features to media, so check back often!

wow after watching that video i just lost 90% of my excitement. it still looks and seems like it feels like that crummy next gen pos.

I really wish ea didnt buy all the rights because its gay that theres no competion and this is the only NFL game to buy.

I honestly don't understand what you people that insistantly rant about madden expect. I think some of you guys just like to complain and be a hater. Sh!t if you don't like the commentator guy. I sure as hell don't. Turn him off!! No one is making you listen to that if you don't want to. A lot of people hate Micheals and Madden commentating the game. So it's a give and take.

I just don't even know what you people expect. I bet you have no idea it's just not what you "thought" it was gonna be like. I'm just puzzled trying to figure out what you expect in a football game. Oh and the reference to 2K8 football?? You'll really realize how madden 08 is light years ahead of 2K8 football. See this is exactly what I'm saying. Already writing off 2K8 as the football gamers savior without even looking at a trailer of 2K8.

But like said I'm not trying to convince anyone at all, to each is own. I don't think madden really gives two sh!ts about fairweather football gamers. So you're small voice is not even heard in the community and I guarentee by the launch of 08 that community of haters and complainers will be even even smaller as more and more make the transition.

and thats what I like to hear. You can't go on what you seen last year. Thats what I did about Next gen 07. 06 turned me right off so I automatically thought that 07 would still be crap. Here we are a month before 08 and I actually gave it a chance it's not all that bad. I missed out on some good gaming. Sure it has flaws and needed to be improved in several areas but it was pretty fun and missed out.

Don't let 1 year write off upcoming years. Thats the worst mistake I made. 08 will be fun and you're right those are just the game's bare essentials you're seeing. Don't put all you're eggs in 1 basket look at the broad spectrum.

08 will be worth buying if you like football games and this is coming from a bigger next gen hater then all you guys put together.
