I was looking on eBay from some Johnny Sample items(as he is one of my favorate All-Time Jets) and I found a book by him called 'Confessions of a Dirty BallPlayer' from 1971. I'm wondering if anyone here ever read it and/or knows if its any good and worth buying or checking out?

Don't go into reading this thinking its all about Jets football. It's a book about racial tension, Sample was hated by the NFL and was treated like shit because of the color of his skin and the fact that he was out spoken.

I'd definitely get the book - today he's most remembered for his interception in Super Bowl III - but he was one mean, tough guy.

He never forgave the Colts for getting rid of him and Super Bowl III was his revenge - I remember he stepped on Tom Matte during the game and they got into a fist fight - Tom Matte ended up punching a referee in the face (by accident) and knocked out a couple of teeth - and there was Johnny Sample - as usual - with a big smile of his face.

He was always close friends with Namath and as you can see from the Book Namath wrote the foreword.
